Frequently Asked Questions

How can we help answer your question?

Beef

What do your cows eat?

Our cattle are always on open pasture as part of our rotational grazing program. In addition to grass and natural forage, they are provided with plant ration/grains that are custom blended by our local feed nutritionist to create a well balanced and natural diet while still providing them with appropriate proteins, fats, and fiber.

What is plant ration?

Plant ration refers to the pellets that we provide to our cattle for optimal health and growth. They consist of barley, peanut hulls, cotton seed and other 100% plant-based ingredients while still providing them with appropriate proteins, fats, and fiber.

Why do you say your cows are grass-fed but you feed them grain or ration?

The term "grass fed" has unfortunately been exploited and manipulated by marketing agencies to be interpreted as only eating grass. Our cattle are grass fed meaning they have 100% access to pasture and forage grasses while also being provided additional plant rations/grains as needed for their health and finish.

What does lifetime pasture mean?

Animals in our care are never confied to feed lots, having access to mulitple acres at a time to graze and forage.

Is your beef Prime or Choice?

To have our beef graded requires an additional step at our processor and coordination with a specific USDA inspector. We currently do NOT have our beef graded. We prefer to let consumers decide and avoid any subjectivity based on the inspector who may be available on our processing dates.

How long do you dry age your beef?

21 - 28 days compared to the industry average of 14 days. This allows more flavor and tenderness for a premium experience.

Are all the cattle yours?

Yes, all cattle come from our farm. If we do not have enough cattle for processing, we will supplement our herd on an as-needed basis, sourcing from surrounding areas near us within the same Angus and Brangus breeds.

Do you medicate your cattle?

Cattle are not given additional growth hormones, steroids, or antibiotics. Our beef is antibiotic and hormone free. This also extends to our processing where no preservatives or additives are used. We do not use mRNA.

Can I come see the farm?

Unfortunately, no. Right now we are not able to provide farm tours to the public.

However, we are working on a farm store for local pickup and for people to observe our operation! We also invite everyone to follow us on our social media platforms for inside looks to farm life and operations.

My meat arrived slightly thawed or thawed, is it safe?

If the beef is thawed but still below about 40 degrees Fahrenheit, you can either store it in your refrigerator for up to two weeks or safely refreeze for future use. This information is provided by the USDA.

Slight thawing is safe and may be expected on farther shipments to the mid-west or west coasts. This does not compromise your meat.
